The Un-Unofficial X-Files Episode Guide
Key
Ranks:
Part of the Greater Story, or so good that it should be.
(none) Non-essential. You can still see the movie if you haven't seen it.
Run, and if you can't run, play possum.
Rating:
I didn't know TV could _be_ this good.
I will pass up sex to watch this episode.
I will pass up a really good stogie to watch this episode.
I will pass up 90210 to watch this episode.
This is the work of the Dark Chris Carter.
Season 2
* The first eight episodes of the second season are, in a way, one
big story, and they all should be seen (except maybe for 2X03 and 2X04,
if you're really pressed for time) if the viewer intends to be up-to-date
on the Greater Story.
2X01: "Little Green Men"
Can you say, "larger budget?" Still, it didn't help this story much.
2X02: "The Host"
ICK! The only X-Files I had to close my eyes during. ICK! X's first line.
2X03: "Blood"
I rank this one high just because the premise is so... great.
2X04: "Sleepless"
Pretty solid, and interesting.
2X05: "Duane Barry [1/2]"
It doesn't get much better than this. I loved every breathing moment of it.
2X06: "Ascension [2/2]"
And a great finish, although one *STUPID* scene needed to stay on the cutting room floor.
2X07: "3"
Oh, yes. Oh, yes. (Mulder is, in my opinion, way out of his league in this one.)
2X08: "One Breath"
At the end of this episode, I realized that I would stop at nothing to watch every bit of X-Files I could get my hands on. Every bit.
2X09: "Firewalker"
Ah huh. Yeah. Whatever.
2X10: "Red Museum"
Another great one. I always knew they were bad to the core.
2X11: "Excelsius Dei"
Kind of cool, but nothing special.
2X12: "Aubrey"
Great. Mostly. Unfortunately, due to a personal in-joke, I can no longer consider this episode without busting up. Sick, but true.
2X13: "Irresistible"
You want scary? You got it. Sheesh!
2X14: "Die Hand Die Verletzt"
Interesting and sort of freaky. Great opener.
2X15: "Fresh Bones"
Voodoo in a refugee camp. Had potential, but... no. And why was X in this one?
2X16: "Colony" [1/2]
This is what the X-Files is best at: Aliens, conspiracies, and wacky inter-personal stuff.
2X17: "End Game" [2/2]
Ecstacy! I love Skinner! Skinner is a god!!
2X18: "Fearful Symmetry"
The only reason this one got even ONE star is because it had a) Frohike, and b) the elephant autopsy (stepladder, indeed).
2X19: "Dod Kalm"
Ehhh. Yeah. This is bottom of the barrel stuff. They should have stuck with the wormhole theory.
2X20: "Humbug"
Yes! Freaks! And a BI-ZARRE script! Was in the running for Best Ever, but... Plot! Plot! We need more plot!
2X21: "The Calusari"
Some interesting Exorcist references, but on the whole, poor.
2X22: "F. Emasculata"
The attack of the killer zits! Yes! Yes! I LOVE this show!
2X23: "Soft Light"
Award: worst justification of a poor plot line. Ever.
2X24: "Our Town"
Couple of good shocking moments, and really gross counts for something.
2X25: "Anasazi" [1/3]
We are deep in alium territory here. Yep. Teleplay by David Duchovney & Chris Carter! Woo!
